|Under general supervision, prepares multi-discipline engineering drawings used for contract bidding and construction using computer aided drafting and design (CADD) tools; reviews drawings for conformance with District CADD standards; supports project managers and project engineers in setting and meeting schedules for project deliverables; and supervises subordinate draftsmen.|
|Promotional Requirements: One year of experience with the District as an Engineering Draftsman II. Civil service status as an Engineering Draftsman II. |
|The examination will consist of a written test weighted 55%, a performance test weighted 35%, an efficiency rating weighted 5% and a seniority rating weighted 5%. The minimum passing score on each test will be 70% unless determined otherwise by the Director of Human Resources. Candidates must achieve a passing score on each test to be eligible to compete in each subsequent test and to have their names placed on the eligible list.
The written test will assess candidates' knowledge, skill and ability in areas such as architectural, civil, structural, electrical, mechanical and process drafting principles, practices and techniques, including AEC standards; AutoCAD operations, including commands; mathematical calculations used in drafting, including division, trigonometry and measurement; written and interpersonal communication; and supervision, including planning and scheduling work. The performance test will assess candidates in areas such as those listed above as well as the ability to read and use data depicted in topographical maps and surveys to create engineering plans and use computer-aided design software (AutoCAD).

WRITTEN TEST: The written test will be administered on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences, 3857 W. 111th Street, Chicago, IL. Candidates should report at 9:00 a.m. with the approved admission letter and a driver's license or other form of photo identification. Calculators will be provided. The use of books, study guides, cell phones, tablets, laptops or other aids during the test is prohibited.
PERFORMANCE TEST: The performance test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, April 28, 2017 and Saturday, April 29, 2017 (if necessary to accommodate the number of candidates.) Candidates who pass the written test will be informed by email regarding the date, time and place of the performance test.
|Appointments will be made from an eligible list with three categories: A (Exceptionally Well Qualified), B (Well Qualified) and C (Qualified). Candidates in the highest category will be given first consideration for appointment. This examination is also being given on an Original Entrance basis. In instances where both Original Entrance and Promotional eligible lists result from an examination process, it is the District's practice to appoint only from the Promotional eligible list until all names from that list have been considered. The eligible list has a duration of three years.
