Engineer of Site Remediation
Performs supervisory, technical and administrative work in environmental site remediation under the general direction of the Executive Director. Work is reviewed primarily in terms of overall results.
Absolute Requirement: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois; however, for a candidate with registration as a Professional Engineer in another state, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois must be obtained prior to appointment. Minimum Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university majoring in civil, environmental or chemical engineering and eight years of relevant post-degree engineering experience. At least four years experience must have been in work related to the environmental remediation of contaminated land. At least three years experience must have been in supervision of professional engineers or geologists. At least one year must have been in an administrative capacity. Substitution: Full time graduate work in the designated fields of engineering may be substituted for the required non-supervisory or administrative experience on a year-for-year basis.
Promotional Requirements : Two years of service with the District as a Site Remediation Specialist. Civil Service Status as a Site Remediation Specialist.
