Under direction, performs supervisory and administrative professional engineering work relating to the preparation, review, administration and, in cases of contract disputes, disposition of a variety of District contracts of an engineering and operational nature.
Absolute Requirement: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois; however, for a candidate with registration as a Professional Engineer in another state, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois must be obtained prior to appointment. Minimum Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university majoring in civil, sanitary, structural, electrical, mechanical or general engineering and five years full-time post-degree engineering experience related to the District's activities including three years of experience in the administration of large-scale maintenance and operations contracts as a principal duty. Substitution: Graduate study in the designated fields of engineering or in law or business administration may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
One year of service with the District as a Senior Civil Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, or Senior Structural Engineer. Civil service status in one of the foregoing classes.
