Senior Structural Engineer
Performs supervisory professional structural engineering work in connection with the design, layout, preparation of plans and estimates and erection or alteration of structural steel, timber, concrete and reinforced concrete structures.
Absolute Requirement: Registration as a Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois; however, for a candidate with registration as a Structural Engineer in another state, registration as a Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois must be obtained prior to appointment. Anticipation of Eligibility: An applicant who can demonstrate the likelihood of being registered as a Structural Engineer by the Qualification Deadline may be admitted to the examination process. Candidates so admitted, who are successful in the examination process, may not be appointed until evidence is provided that registration was obtained by the Qualification Deadline. Obtaining registration is interpreted to mean that the candidate passed a Structural Engineer test that was given prior to the Qualification Deadline, and that no further requirements must be met by the candidate in order for the license to be issued.
Minimum Requirements: Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, sanitary or structural engineering and four years of full-time, post-degree structural engineering experience related to the District's activities. Substitution: Full-time graduate study in the designated fields of engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.

Civil service status in one of the foregoing classes.
