Senior Civil Engineer
Performs supervisory, professional civil engineering work in the design, maintenance and construction of facilities necessary to collect, treat and discharge wastewater.
Absolute Requirement: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois; however, for a candidate with registration as a Professional Engineer in another state, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois must be obtained prior to appointment. Minimum Requirements: Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, sanitary, or structural engineering and four years of full-time, post-degree civil engineering experience related to the District's activities. Substitution: Full-time graduate study in the designated fields of engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.
Absolute Requirement: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois; however, for a candidate with registration as a Professional Engineer in another state, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois must be obtained prior to appointment. Anticipation of Eligibility: An applicant who can demonstrate the likelihood of being registered as a Professional Engineer by the Anticipation Deadline may be admitted to the examination process. Candidates so admitted, who are successful in the examination process, may not be appointed until evidence is provided that registration was obtained by the Anticipation Deadline. Obtaining registration is interpreted to mean that the candidate passed a Professional Engineer test that was given prior to the Anticipation Deadline, and that no further requirements must be met by the candidate in order for the license to be issued. Promotional Requirements: One year of service with the District as an Associate Civil Engineer, Associate Electrical Engineer, Associate Mechanical Engineer or Associate Structural Engineer; or possession of a bachelor's degree in the appropriate academic specialty and one year of service with the District as an Associate Process Control Engineer, Environmental Research Scientist, Environmental Specialist or Treatment Plant Operator III. Civil service status in one of the foregoing classes.
