Instrumentation Chemist
Under direction, performs research, develops methods, and performs complex analyses of toxic organic pollutants involving analytical methodology and sensitive laboratory instruments in a chemical environmental laboratory for water and wastewater.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree majoring in chemistry or a closely related field. Two years of full-time professional work experience in a laboratory involving analytical methodology development, conducting QC/QA programs, and GC, GC/MS, and/or HPLC analysis according to U.S. EPA methods and protocols for organic pollutants in industrial waste, wastewater and sludge. Substitution: Related post-graduate work above the bachelor's level may be substituted for the required experience.
Possession of a bachelor's degree in an appropriate academic specialty. An appropriate academic specialty is interpreted to be a degree in chemistry or a closely related field. One year of service with the District as a Senior Laboratory Technician or Senior Environmental Research Technician. Civil service status in one of the foregoing classifications.
